My Coronavirus Action Plan

Starting in January 2020, news about the Covid-19 (Novel Coronavirus) began to grow. As of today (3/13/20), the panic and consequences are feeling heightened more than ever.

Between Coronavirus, politics, tornados, and everything else going on (seen and unseen), I want to first express my love and support to all who are impacted by the hardships and uncertainty of this time.

I’ve had many request from our SLW family to share what actions my family and I are taking during the Covid-19 pandemic. My hope is that this approachable and straightforward list of actions and suggestions can ease your stress and increase your health during this time.

Self-Imposed Social Distancing

As much as possible, I will be staying home with my kids and avoiding face-to-face contact with others. That’s because, this virus is HIGHLY infectious, meaning it is spread easily. As a healthy young human, there is a chance I may be a carrier for Covid-19 and not show symptoms, so I will be doing my part to help the decrease in spread of the virus by staying at home.

When in public spaces I will do my best to keep my hands washed and sanitized, and not touch my face. I will try to keep 6 ft between me and other people.

Washing Hands With…

non-toxic soap for at least 20 seconds. Antibacterial soaps not only WON’T protect you against a virus, but they almost always contain dangerous and harsh chemicals like Triclosan. So, we’re washing our hands with my favorite germ-fighting, natural-based foaming hand soap from Young Living. According to their website, “Keeping hands clean is one of the most important things you can do to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. With a formula safe for the whole family to use, Thieves Foaming Hand Soap gently and effectively cleanses hands with the power of pure essential oils and cleansing botanicals. Combining the germ-fighting power of denatured alcohol with the skin-conditioning ingredients of gingko biloba and aloe vera, Thieves Foaming Hand Soap is an excellent way to protect your skin from both germs and dryness.

The best deal is to grab Thieves hand soap (plus my favorite household cleaner and hand sanitizers) through the Thieves Starter Kit here.

Sanitizing Hands and Cell Phone with…

Thieves Hand Sanitizer- Kicks 99.99 percent of germs to the curb! Antibacterial hand sanitizers are NOT effective against viruses, and most are chemically toxic too! An effective hand sanitizer against viruses needs at least 60% alcohol content. YL’s has 65% alcohol plus the power of essential oils. This is out of stock currently for individual purchase, but keep checking back as YL Corporate is working double-time to bring this back ASAP. OR you can get it in the Thieves Starter Kit if in stock.

To make your own hand sanitizer, combine 30 drop of essential oils with 1 ounce aloe vera gel and 3 ounces of high-proof vodka (like Everclear) or rubbing alcohol.

It’s important to wash you hands (and surfaces) and then ALSO sanitize them using an alcohol-based sanitizer product.

Requesting Intravenous Vitamin C if…

Heaven forbid, if any one of my family members actually contracted Covid-19, the very first thing I will do is request (ok, let’s be real…more like DEMAND), intravenous Vitamin C treatment. The Shanghai Government now officially recommends intravenous Vitamin C treatment for COVID-19. Given in very high doses, this treatment MAY just be our best shot at treating this disease. More research is needed still, but besides nausea, IV Vit C has very little downsides, so rest assured, that will be my first action should any one of us gets sick.

Keeping Our Air Clean

Right now we are keeping our AirDoctor running at full speed. That’s because it’s one of the best air purifiers on the market and unlike most standard purifiers, it actually filters out viruses! Use this referral link to get $300 off plus a free VOC filter. (It’s too soon to tell if it’s effective against Covid-19, but keeping your air pure never hurts and keeps your respiratory health stronger).

keeping our surfaces clean

Covid-19 can survive on surfaces for possibly days, however the CDC is still unclear on how contagious it is from surface to humans. Nonetheless, we are keeping surfaces as clean as possible with Thieves Household Cleaner. then disinfecting for good measure with Hydrogen peroxide.

Nasal Rinse

I swear by my ChitoRhino Nasal rinse to keep my nasal passageway clear of gunk. You can alternatively use a neti pot with purified water and non-iodized sea salt with a splash of tea tree essential oil.

Improving Immune system Function with…

  • Thieves Essential Oil - a specially formulated blend of Clove, Cinnamon, Rosemary, Lemon, and Eucalyptus. Thieves got its name from the bubonic plague era were legend has it, a band of thieves were able to avoid contracting the highly contagious plague by breathing in a mix of herbs and spices through their long-beaked masks.

Today, it is known as the go-to oil for staying well.

I’ve been diffusing this oil in my house, using 8 drops in my diffuser in the afternoon and at night. If traveling in danger zones I’m going to apply 1 drop to the outside of a mask to allow my lungs to breathe it in (just avoid undiluted contact to your skin).

  • R.C. Essential Oil™ - stands for Respiratory Care, this is a special blend of 3 species of Eucalyptus oils, Myrtle, Marjoram, Pine, Lavender, Cypress, Black Spruce, and Peppermint. This makes for an amazing chest rub (mix with coconut oil and rub on your chest. Also, it doesn’t hurt to breathe it in a diffuser, inhaler, or over a pot of hot steamy water.

  • Raven Essential Oil - a blend of Ravintsara, Peppermint, Eucalyptus Radiata, Lemon, and Wintergreen essential oils….this one is very cooling and calming. It can be amazing as a chest rub. I would use this combined with R.C. as a chest rub and/or using a steam pot method to give my lungs a boost.

  • Thieves Hand Sanitizer- Kicks 99.99 percent of germs to the curb! Antibacterial hand sanitizers are NOT effective against viruses, and most are chemically toxic too! • Thieves Cough Drops - I'm shocked this is still in stock right now! The triple-action formula of Thieves Cough Drops offers comfort by relieving coughs, soothing sore throats, and cooling nasal passages. Minty, spicy, and sweet without processed sugar, dyes, artificial flavors, or preservatives, these cough drops are made with naturally derived ingredients, including Young Living’s pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and menthol from Peppermint.

  • Super C(Vitamin C) - Super C™ not only contains 1440% of the recommended dietary intake of vitamin C per serving, but it is also fortified with rutin, citrus bioflavonoids, and minerals to balance electrolytes and enhance the effectiveness and absorption of vitamin C.* The essential oils that are added may also increase bioflavonoid activity.

Shutting Down the Stress (aka the News)

Stress will hijack you immune system and lower your ability to fight infection. So stay informed, but protect yourself from the hysteria and panic the news tends to bring on. I am not listening to the news around my kids right now so as not to make them worry. Worry only leads to stress, which leads to a weekended immune system.

Take some deep breaths, do some yoga, slather on those stress-lowering essential oils (did someone say Stress Away?), and jump in a bath.

Check out my favorite essential oils here and learn how to grab top quality oils for nearly 50% off.

Tell me your thoughts. What are you and your family doing to stay well?
